Hemang Badani: A Brief Biography

Hemang Badani Biography

Hemang Badani is an Indian cricketer hailing from the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was born on 14 November, 1976 and developed a keen interest in cricket during his childhood.

He is a left-handed batsman and a left-hand orthodox bowler. He scored his first century in an ODI against Australia in 2001, a game that nevertheless resulted in a loss for India.

Background

Badani regularly played domestic level cricket, eventually entering into national level competitions like Indian Cricket League and Indian Premier League.

He played at national as well as international level the teams he played for include the Indian national cricket team, Chennai Superstars, ICL India, Elite Group C, India A, Indian Board President's XI, India Green, Indian Inv XI, India Seniors, Rest of India, South Zone, Wills XI, India, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Rajasthan, Vidarbha.

International debut

Badani’s ODI debut was against Bangladesh at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka on May 30, 2000, while his Test debut came against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club, Harare, June 15, 2001.

He had been fairly successful in ODIs with satisfactory stats than his unimpressive career in Test matches.

He played for three years as a part of the team in ODIs, but for less than a year in Test matches. He played only four tests, with the last one coming against Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo, August 29, 2001.

Club career

He played for Chennai Superstars in the Indian Cricket League and Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League.

However, in his time as a member of the Chennai Super Kings team, he did not play any matches.

Retirement

Badani does not currently play in ODI and Test but is still a part of Vidarbha, playing his way at the Ranji Trophy.
